Wanted to borrow: Fast wide angle lens at IISAC2011

Hi guys

I'm eventually looking to buy a fast wide angle lens like the 11-16 tokina or the Canon 10-22 but I haven't had the time or money to get one before IISAC2011.

But I'll be looking to do some widefield night sky timelapses etc at IISAC, so was wondering if anyone had one they could bring along (if they're coming) for me to use, or post to me (I'm happy to pay postage).

I'll be using it with a Canon 40D, so obviously needs to fit that camera.

Please let me know if you can help.

camera lense

Hi mike I will be bringing along a canon 15mm f2.8 Fisheye lense. Its proven to give some very interesting effects for 30 to 40 sec shots that i have taken trying to get the landscape in as well as the sky.

These guys rent them for really reasonable prices, I have used them on many shoots and they are hassle free and bloody cheap.

Interesting site, but a Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L would cost me $156 for 4 days.

I don't think it's that cheap

Hi Mike,

I have the Tokina 12-24mm F4 which was released well before the 11mm - 16mm F2.8 Tokina. You are welcome to give that a try but it may not be what you're looking for in regards to an astro imaging lens, being F4 not F2.8. It's an excellent terrestrial lens, that within its design paramaters is possibly slightly better optically than the F2.8 lens.

Cheers,
John B
