deepskystacker comet processing

Quick bit of advice needed here.

Just playing around stacking some comet images in DSS, getting a lot of artifacts from stars, particularly the brighter ones.

Doing it as a comet freeze framed in a clean star field, have tried the other 2 ways but one is smeared due to comet movement and the freeze the comet but dot the stars in trails looks ordinary.

It may be I'm stretching it somewhat...as you would a deepsky image.

This is just an initial stack as have not added flats etc, but these are definitely not hot pixels etc, you can see a black spot where it appears to have masked out the brighter stars and then diminishing as you go from frame to frame...

Suggestions welcome.

In "Stacking Parameters", under "Cosmetic", do you have the box ticked to "Detect and Clean remaining Hot Pixels". ?
If you do, untick the box, it can cause all sorts of weird artefacts to appear in your image.
