NGC 4945 in Centaurus

This was supposed to be an image of the incredibly faint SN1006.
It's the first time I have not been able to image an object because after 3 hours exposure not a single photon from the supernova was captured. (Foggy conditions didn't help.)

So instead here is an image of the much brighter NGC4945.

90m L, 60m R, 60m G, 60m B ST-10XME, BRC 250 Scope.

Clear skies

Bigger scope, Steven

Nice pic of the galaxy Plenty of detail in the dust lanes and you can even see some large HII regions.

Thanks Carl.

SN1006 should have been a piece of cake, if one is able to image the Carina Dwarf Galaxy.

I'll blame it on the conditions.

Regards

Steven

Excellent detail and I like the image scale. There is a slight red caste in the image background and this also looks like it is affecting the galaxy a little too. Nice image.

I'm still in awe over the ESO/CTIO invisible Carina Dwarf galaxy image Craig.

There is a fair degree of interstellar absorption in this area Paul. It's possible this has contributed to the red.

Your image wasn't too bad Jennifer. This hobby has a steep learning curve.
