who is going to Wiruna?

I have been thinking of going up to Wiruna this weekend, on Saturday morn. I have heard there is a bit of a get together. Its been a long time since I have had a good dark night. I was also thinking I would bring my 7yr old up as he loves camping and the dark skies. Any other kids going?

Hi Stacey,

I will be up for Saturday night at "the house". I think Dr Paul is going up as well to the house. There is always a good crowd in the main field as well.

My 10yr old son always accompanies me.

As QLD said, you can prebook the bunk rooms in the main hall, or you can take your chances with a one of the 8 beds in the house which cant be booked and are 1st in 1st served (mind you I have only seen the all filled on 2 occasions) if you dont have tents etc. Just need a sleeping bag.

I have a van onsite so dont include me in the 8.

Your being generous, usually this time of year your need to add a minus sign in front of that 3.

wiruna this weekend

i think that there will be a good crowd there this weekend at the main viewing field and the house because the forecast gives a good report for Sat night.but be prepared for a cold night as the temp has dropped to -13 at Charlots pass best advise is to wear thermals headgear and gloves. remember no white light at night and that includes cars on the viewing field. There will be enough big scopes in use so if you just want to pop up without gear there will be enough scopes to look through .
see you there

Saturday is good from midnight onwards. Sunday looks good. Let's see if it holds still to the end of this week.
