Safari annoyances

Had a few issues with safari, namely referring me to sites as a mobile user then being presented with simplified pages which don't allow proper access to the site functionality. Access from ebay to Paypal is one example. I downloaded Atomic Web browser, $1.99 seems ok lots of settings including some browser reporting options. After some fiddling it seems to do the trick at least as far as the mobile app referral goes.

Atomic also has proper tabs similar to IE and FF, much nicer than the page switching in Safari.

I've also had a lot of trouble with safari stalling, lots of reports from users out there with the same problem, as usual Apple is silent when it comes to a resolution. The stalling issue seems to have come with iOS 4.2 and above, hopefully they'll get off their collective asses and fix it.

Being able to select WAP vs standard pages would be a nice thing in lots of mobile browsers. These days, your smarter mobile has a better screen with zooming so being redirected to WAP pages is almost redundant for these devices.

I was going to suggest you try the Opera Mini Browser, it's free and is a good alternative to Safari though you have Atomic which should do the trick.

I must admit I don't surf as much with my iPhone so haven't had any major issues with safari though I have noticed it'll stall occasionally when using the google search feature. With any luck iOS 5+ will fix a lot of those annoyances up.

You' right about pay pal, every time I make a purchase & click the pay now button I get directed to that stupid mobile site.
A good browser is Terra, but at the minute it has been taken down from the app store should appear in a. Week or two..similar to atomic but Free!

Lol

Me too! After years of observing in the Zambian bush with an 80mm refractor: I thought I had someone else to share experiences with!

Ahh.. those clear, dark skies with NO source of electricity for 200km in any direction during the 5 week black outs....

I'd have to agree - iCab is the only browser that will reliably access my observatories web server for remote access. Safari just doesn't work (errors out every time on the iPad but seems to work fine for some on the iPhone)

Cheers
