mov to avi

hi

newbie question.

Ive shot some video on the canon 550d as a registax learning project. But since the canon 550d shoots video in MOV format and registax prefers AVI, what conversion software do people use. or am i missing something entirely.

I tried to convert using movavi trial version and registax gives the following error. Failed to start avi decompression: codec error x264vids.

thanks
Karen

Have a look at ww.snapfiles.com. Plenty of excellent file converters in the graphics free section and you may need to download some up dated Codecs ( Coders/Decoders ) for the newer formats of file around. K-Lite has a full install package. I think they will be on the snapfiles site as well.
Google is your friend .....
Snapfiles is good for lots of other graphics stuff as well btw. Check that free section out.

I have the 550D too, I use the evaluation version of "any dvd converter professional"
It will only convert the first couple of minutes of any video file, but that's perfectly ok. My astro videos are no more than a minute or two long anyway.
