Starry Night Pro - too BIG!

I have Starry Night Pro 6 - it suits me fine as it works very nicely with EQMOD

But....

its a big beast. I have a partitioned Mac and so have limited disk space. Windows chews up a huge amount so I am keen to keep everything else slim.

SN takes up about 12GB - of which about 8GB is the All Sky images. I always turn these off in options as its uses up the CPU.

Can I simply dump this file and otherwise run SN normally?

If you uninstall and re-install Starry Night Pro Plus 6, it gives you the option to perform a minimal 4 GB install, where all the All Sky images are compressed. It takes longer for them to decompress and display on screen, but, the upshot is that you save 8 GB.

I run it like that on my current laptop as I'm short on space.

You can also install without the all sky maps for even less space.
