Just had my 2nd accident in 20yrs

Coming home from work on the bike, pissing down rain & didn't see the water on the road.

Hit the water at approx 40klm/hr. It was about a foot deep. Almost made it through & then the front wheel went sideways. Luckily the deep water protected the bike a bit. It didn't cop too much damage.
It felt like I was going faster than I was & when I went down the only thing I could think of was "Where's the bike, I don't want it to slide over me".

Scratched the RH side faring & the front edge of the RH side can. Little bit of scratching on the RH side mirror.

She was still running laying on it's side in the water. Shut it off, stood it up. All good. Started her up & rode home.
I've never had to pick this bike up before. I've always said that I'd hate to try to pick it up as it weighs 256kg.
It was surprisingly easy to get up. Maybe it was the adrenilin kicking in from the shock of the accident, but I got it up with ease.

No damage to me other than a bruised leg.

Very little damage to look at, but I'm guessing somewhere between $2 to $3k to fix.

Am really pissed off with myself. I've had this bike for 7yrs & not a scratch. Just one instance of not concentrating enough & down I went.

Yikes! It needs some "floaties" in this weather?

Glad nothing serious, Bryan - no bad injury or disabling damage. Lots worse happens in wet weather. Truck went through the barrier and over the edge of Anthony's Cutting yesterday in the wet - took them hours to pull it back onto the road. No sure about the driver. Highway closed and diversions in place.

Good to see you did not hurt yourself. Bikes require 110% of your attention and it only takes a little slip to go base over apex. I have done it a few times myself.

Sorry to hear that Bryan - I can still psychologically feel the pain of a bike/car issue I had a few years back. My bike was only 3 days old...

Anyway, don't forget - rubber side down from now on.

That's a bummer Bryan, good to hear you are ok though.

Hope the Hyabusa isn't as bad as you first think.

Geez Bryan, what the hell are you doing trying to ride through foot deep water, ya clown!

Out of all my motorcycle crashes I must admit that I never crashed in water

Glad you are OK though Bryan

Thanks for the well wishes guys.
I'll try harder to miss the water next time Ken.

Contacted the police to report it (for insurance) & then contacted the insurance.
Both asked me to call back next week some time.
Flamin inconsiderate I reckon... A little thing like the worst floods for 40yrs & they can't take care of my claim....

I'll call back next week. Or maybe the week after.
