Forum Timeout

Hi. I was wondering why my IIS login times out after such a short time when I leave my computer for 5-10 minutes? I understand that it is for security and privacy, but does it have to be so short?

Did you tick the "Remember Me" option when you logged in?

I've set up my browser to clear history and cookies every time, so that would prevent me from using the "Remember me" option

The timeout should be 15 minutes, rather than 5-10.

Can you not set up IIS as a "trusted site" if you insist on clearing cookies for other sites?

Hi Mischa,

I also clear history and cookies etc each time I finish a session on the net. It has no effect on the timeout function and the entire website works just fine for me. BTW I run Internet Explorer 7.

Sorry I can't give anymore help.

I tried checking the "remember me" box and I think that worked. I'll probably just have to tick it each time I sign in.

Thanks for the help,

Mischa.

I have discovered something, my dynamically assigned IP address is changing more often that it ever has, Its not just IIS thats affected, does IIS use IP recognition as part of its log in security... And does anyone else suffering this use Bog Pond as a provider with a dynamic IP...Maybe its the wet weather causing ADSL modems to loose sync and reasgning a new IP on reconnect...any techos out there that can help..... Ive tried everything else , I think...
