Can anyone identify these two bugs?

Not sure of the species ID of Dragonfly or Butterfly. Any help? Photographed in Canberra region.

Baz.

Hello Baz.

Nice photos. I think the butterfly is called an Australian Admiral or Yellow Admiral depending on where you come from. I used to see them regularly in this neck of the woods, but not so much now - maybe I'm just less observant.

But I've got no idea about the dragonfly, ian.

re butterfly

The butterfly is an Australian Admiral, also called yellow admiral.

latin name 'Vanessa itea'.

This is one of my most favourite butterflies, they fly very fast, difficult

to capture or get close to,you did very well to take that image.

Not sure about dragonfly.

Chris

Bit hard to tell on the DF - might need more of the body to be able to ID it.

Lovely butterfly capture.
