Fine scale structure in Orions Sword
Still having fun playing with data, here is yet another way of looking at Orions Sword...  - it really highlights the fine scale nebulous structure.
Man, if I were to go back to the mid 80's and I had pulled the neg roll of Tri-X out of the developing tank, held it up to the light and seen this through my magnifier... I think I would have passed out

Pretty cool Mike. Plenty of nebulosity, though I'm not the negative type. 
(Positivity all the way ) Shame about the bright star reflection though, rather pronounced in negative form. (am I being negative?)

how much data you have left Mike - its going to be a long long time before we get anything near the weather you captured this lot of photons. i dont mind the negative view

Glad you liked it Craig, as you may have gathered from the image captions at my web site, this is an image from last summer (not sure if we will even have a summer this year ) but the first time I had viewed it in negative. Looking at images in negative reveals things that your eye misses in positive or colour, particularly effective for faint galaxy clusters or faint swarms of globular clusters in Eliptical galaxy halos

Mate I have reasonably severe imaging withdrawals, the way it looks at the moment the new scope will be here before I can finish my works in progress - started in Aug and Sept

Nice and Deep!
For the folks who don't like the 'Negative' view, just copy/paste the image into PhotoShop or PaintShop Pro or some other program and click on Invert or Negative.
Then you can see it in the 'Positive'.

Yeah bud I remember Tech pan. Nice gear but I like you would have had a heart attack if I saw this on a neg. I was always grateful for having stars that looked a roundish. Was never thinking of getting much detail, nothing like today.

Err actually it doesn't quite work like that exactly Ken, what looks good in negative will usually not look good in positive - try it, you will find the image way too bright and over exposed looking... but in neg it rocks

Oh and by the way, re Kens suggestion, just inverting this negative in PS wont cut it, it will look awefully over exposed. The levels, curves, brightness and contrast that looks good in negative doesn't look good in positive.

Stunning. It's just like seeing detail in H-alpha images, except you see stuff you just don't typically see.
I wonder what other objects apart from this and NGC 2070 work best in this format.
