It's the little things that count

As many of you will know I am eagerly awaiting my new 12" fast Astrograph from Orion Optics. I have a set of Catseye collimation tools I obtained 3 years ago for the ill fated ASA and more recently I got myself some of Jim's neat LED collimation lights to help collimate the newtonian at night.

Today and out of the bue, I received three neat little stickers in the mail from Jim Fly at Catseye

I think THIS is what you do with them

Nice touch Jim thanks heaps ...I think these may be included in all Catseye parcels from now on..? .

Mike

Well... from the thread title I was expecting a polka dot pattern with hotspots but this is worse. The only cure is a prompt delivery of your telescope.

'bout time Jim got a "hotspot" into his logo?

Wonder if I'll get one with my LED light??

Did more work with the Cheshire and Autocollimator tools on my SDM last Sunday - got them sorted now, I think - impressive tools! All very clear now - see attached for Cheshire instructions

ps. Mike - you're weird, man!

Eric,

If you would only have aligned the 3 HotSpot segments with the collimation bolts, adjustments would be even more intuitive.

Ah yes, hindsight, Jim I was so excited that I just put it on and later thought...............Oh dear. (It was probably mentioned in your instructions for installing the hotspot.)

I cannot rotate the mirror due to the positioning of the velcro that locates the cable sling, and the location of temperature sensor. Perhaps in future when the mirror needs work.

I'll soon get the current orientation and the effect of collimation screws 1 and 3 memorised.
