Saving your 'bookmarks' before doing a 'restore'

Hello.

I am looking at doing a systems restore on my laptop (or well the computer boffins are going to do that),I am saving all my files etc,but just wondering about all these 'bookmarks' on my google chrome browser.I figure if I make another gmail address I could send myself those bookmarks, (the are two pages so this is a bit of work),Is there any other way to keep them???

Sync your bookmarks with your google account, and they'll follow you anywhere around the world.

I don't do 'Chrome' but it must have a 'Favourites' or whatever Chrome calls it, folder somewhere. You can just copy and paste that to a USB. I do it all the time when I upgrade Users PCs at work except I just access their pC via the network through the 'back door' and copy lots of things across for them. Always a bit of a surprise when they fire up a new PC and see all their shortcuts, folders and files ready and waiting. Currently moving them all (~400) from XP to W7.

re tabs

Thanks Brent.

I followed the link Humayman sent in,it worked out very well,I am most pleased to have saved all my tabs-I can put them on a USB and have them anywhere.I will certainly have a look in the tool section and see if I can save a bit more stuff without re installing lots of files and short cuts.

If anyone else has some advice on systems restores please let us know-It helps get mentally calibrated for such a job,I have been putting of for some time-but it needs to be done-my EOS utility will not work at all.

Easy enough to save all your files, I just dump all the docs etc into one folder on the desktop then copy it to a USB, network server or another PC till I need them.
It's the applications that you cannot ( generally speaking, there are exceptions ) copy across. THATS when you need the original CDs etc.
If you have access to two PCs and can back to back them via a network cable, hub/switch or USB connection or use an external harddrive via USB ( cheap these days ) then saving your stuff is easy.

As I said it's the software installs that are the fun part.
