We haven't even seen any aircraft lately. Nothing higher than cumulus cloud base.

Well Peter, I guess you better tell us all about it then, lucky you! The only thing I ever get to see lately are the astro pics here and in books.

I am so looking forward to seeing the ISS in my scope for the first time, but I don't think we here in Qld will be so lucky to see it this week - we have a huge cloud covering just about all of Qld and according to Foxtel weather, it is going to stay put for days to come. The sky is one big thick blanket of grey, almost suffocating .

Well, we had a great viewing of it last night at the ASNSW Christmas Party. We all adjourned outside for the fly-over.

Should be one in a few minutes across southern Victoria.

Mag -3 or so, max elevation 62 deg - visible from horizon to horizon.

Clear skies outside and no mozzies - I'm going out!

EDIT:- All done - nice flyover. Yes a bit brighter than Jupiter which is around -2.7 at present.

I once watched a bright ISS flyover, but through cloud. It wasn't too thick so I could see the light moving along glowing in the clouds. Neat! Try it.
