Cool Customer Service ++

I've known about this scam for a while.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...section=justin

You are supposed to believe that Microsoft contacts you personnally and then offers free one to one assistance in removing a virus from your computer. If you believe that then I have a nice bridge for sale.

I can't wait to get my call. I'll waste a bit of their time before complaining that their trojan doesn't run under Linux.

We got this call a few days ago. Pity I was not home at the time. I had already warned my family about this but I can see older or less capable people being taken!

These are the type of people that makes you want to keep a compressed air horn by the phone.

My son helps a mid 80s couple with their computing. They received the call, but were cluey enough to stop and take advice.

My son also got the call. He had some fun with them before hanging up.

I'd say "That's interesting, I don't have any Microsoft Windows installed at home."

My new hobby is scambaiting. That is, reverse scamming these scammers. Particularly, the 419 variety.

I'm working on a lad at the moment; will see if I can send him on a safari. If it ends up going anywhere, I'll publish my results here.

Roger,

It's really slow going. I've been working this lad for 3 weeks now.

If it's successful, I'll post it. : )

Clive,

I don't have any means of recording and I don't intend to get involved in telephone calls with these scum, although, there's other people that I can request to do that for me (experienced baiters). My modus operandi is that I'm deaf and in a wheelchair, which makes it difficult for me to be mobile.

I'll have a listen to that file when I get home; the name sounds familiar, though.
