Portraits from this morning

I don't typically post any of my non-landscape or astrophotographic work here, but, thought I'd share some portraits from this morning.

It is a wonderful feeling to know that you're getting to a stage in your craft that you can just plonk down your umbrella/flash equipment and take images like this straight away.

These have not been treated in Photoshop, at all; straight out of Digital Photo Professional. This is another thing which is of utmost importance to me -- getting it right in camera, off the bat.

All images shot with the never-ceasing-to-inspire-me 5D Mark II and the 24-105mm f/4L IS USM workhorse.

Cheers.

You should post more of these! Great lighting control. Reckon shooting people with glasses on would have to be one of the most difficult things about portraits.

Thanks, Troy.

I'm in the process of lining up shoots with some gorgeous women in the next few months. Will post them here. ; )

Yeah, the whole shooting people with glasses thing is really annoying. Some have anti-glare coatings (I know I do) and no matter what you do, they show up green in the shots. You could ask your subject to remove their glasses, but, the thing is, if they wear them day in/day out, then, the glasses are also a part of who they are and you want to capture that as part of their personality.

Thanks. : )

They look great H.

I've tried portraits and I reckon the hardest thing is to capture that natural look.

I think you've achieved this in your shots.

Cheers

You'll need a nice, natural , rural-esque setting for that series of shoots and I know just the place....

Great shots as usual H,

Did you see the documentary last Monday on Ten - all about The President's Photographer. He takes stunning natural light shots - obviously he has access to amazing subject material. Quite inspirational stuff - ordered a new lens as a consequence.

Great shots. First one is spot on with side and rear lighting.no reflections on glasses.metering is spot on too.
More of these images and you might make some money and leave your day job.
That is a sharp lens too.
I opened a studio years ago and ran it and had lots of fun shooting all kinds of people, weddings and home portraits etc.
Keep it up and hope you can keep sending images for us to look at.

Well done H.

Peter.

Rick, David, Peter,

Thanks so much, guys.

I'd like to think that if I'm good at one thing in life, it's what makes me happiest the most -- photography. We'll see what happens. : )

David, I don't have a TV so didn't see the show. But, if I'm not mistaken, I know the guy you're referring to -- especially if he's Obama's/current Whitehouse photographer. He was an editorial/PJ, by the name of Pete Souza. He shoots a 5D Mark II. : )

Edit: I've removed a couple of images and just left the one I liked most.

That's the guy H. And yes, he does shoot Canon - can't get everything right I suppose!
