mini choppers in flight

Hi,

I thought I might share some closeups of my choppers in flight
These close up shots were taken with the lens only cm from spinning blades.
I wanted to get close ups of the gyro and stabilizer mechanism on the
rotor with maybe a fast enough shutter speed to totally stop the blades.
It worked and is quite sharp and detailed....but the chopper doesn't
even look like it's flying anymore
Slower shutter speed would make the blades blur and instantly give the
effect of speed.....cool none the less.

Marc, those helicopters are designed to fly indoors. They are too light to fly outside unless a match would burn vertical.

They are so much fun, I have two, one is a double blade like Steves and the other is a single blade with CCPM (just like the biguns). I got banned from flying the single blade in the school gym but crikey it dosen't half move out when it's wide open. You can fly it outside if it is very still but a small breeze will put an end to any form of control. I have some larger heli's for that any way and precision indoor flying is what they are for.

Top shots there, takes a bit of skill to fly those babies. I've got two, one just like the one in the images, and another with single main rotor and tail rotor (CCPM or Cyclic Collective Pitch Mixing). Maaaaaaan the single rotors are a whole new ballgame, they pack a mighty punch and WILL catch you off guard......on the plus side there is a ton of cheap spare parts available for when a crash occurs

Ever since I saw this thread I've had the bug to get one.

Spousal approval was revoked as soon as she found they were for indoors ....

I bought one regardless from ebay after checking whether there were spares available.

Most impressive, I've already had 15 minutes of fun and not broken anything, managed to hover for quite a while, even flew around a bit.

The only problem is the long charge time, almost 3 hours.

I've got a fuel driven Hirobo Shuttle (bought second hand and never flown) in the garage with a broken part on the head, I have the bug to get that running now.
