NGC5139 from the Astrofest

Wanted to shoot 47 Tuc but had trouble with the guide stars so I had to settle with the second best globular (arguably).

Omega Centauri - WO 110 ED Magrez @ f4.95, Modded 450D, 11 X 180 ISO 800 plus darks, no flats or bias. Deep Sky Stacker, processed with PS CS2.

ESO 220-008 - from a full size crop of the above image... same details. The galaxy is visible left and below the globular... couple of other galaxies as well.

Comments welcome.

Yes oh Great One, what is the secret of Great Definition?

I have great need to apply it to ALL of my images . I am interested in seeing what it does to the face on spiral in the lower left of this particular image.

Tony, I ran a deconvolve script for maxim that I got off Greg Bock at Astrofest. That was 12 iterations which is a lot and would probably put black rings around the stars in a full image.

batema, here's how wiki explains it. But the short answer is :
Quote:
In optics and imaging, the term "deconvolution" is specifically used to refer to the process of reversing the optical distortion that takes place in an optical microscope, electron microscope, telescope, or other imaging instrument, thus creating clearer images.

Tony - great job on not blowing out the core.

Robin - I'll have to talk to you about how to run that deconvolve script on Maxim. Are you planning to go to Peter's on the Friday 11th? I "might" be able to make it that night (but not Saturday)...

Dave, I was hoping to go up Friday and do the Kilcoy Show on Saturday to see jjj's exhibit, but that's work dependant.

Tony, here's that one with 12 and 30 itterations. Even 12 is too many. Look at the star at 7 o'clock from the galaxy. It has a black core cos I pushed too hard. There's always a tradeoff
