Hi All,
Thank you very much for your birthday wishes everyone -- it was a lovely day I finished-off with a short but cloudy shift at Sydney Observatory. I received a bit of cash I hope to invest in a couple of astronomy books I've had my eye on for a while (in particular Sidereus Nuncius, or The Sidereal Messenger: Galileo Galilei) and my daughter bought me a couple of Goodies DVDs.
Just kicking back now with a nice coffee, some mud-cake and a pipeclay port by Pieter Van Gent from Mudgee.
I know I've been a little quiet around here lately -- read nothing sinister into that. I've just simply been more busy than usual because my wife has been laid-up with a particularly bad dose of the shingles for the last couple of months that has been complicated by her being a Lupus sufferer who is on substantial doses of immunosuppressant meds that reduce her own body's ability to fight the infection. She has been pretty crook.
She is just starting to get a little better now about 7 weeks down the track from the first spots. We could reduce those medications but then the lupus gets worse -- so it's robbing Peter to pay Paul. Just hope she comes up to speed for our big holiday in November -- in Hawaii.
Thanks again everyone for you best wishes which are appreciated.
Best,
Les D
