Hi Stu,
A dedicated astronomy equipment exhibition is not currently on the Australian
astro-calendar.
At major events such as the South Pacific Star Party, Queensland Astrofest
and Border Stargaze, there are vendors stalls which are usually attended
by the major telescope shops and other suppliers and manufacturers such
as ourselves.
For a major astronomy suppliers event, you need to hop on a plane to the
United States and attend an event such as NEAF which is held in Suffern,
New York or to the Riverside Telescope Makers Conference, which is
held at a pretty place called Big Bear Lake a few hours drive out of L.A.
or to events such as the Advanced Imaging Conference in Santa Clara,
just south of San Francisco.
As you are probably aware, the larger astronomy stores in Sydney also have
showrooms, but if you want to chat to Al Nagler about his latest eyepiece
or to Rick Hedrick about Planewave Instruments telescopes or to the guys
at Meade, Vixen, Celestron, etc. then you will have to make the jump across
the pond. If you get the chance one day on a holiday, I am sure you will
love it.
Best Regards
