BEST OFFER - John Browning Telescope
Best offer, for the John Browning telescope, it's well documented, it comes as is, and without the mount. It is currently mounted in a makeshift wooden dob styled mount which has wheels which makes it a little easier to move.
Must be pickup only, must be a large vehicle, probably a van, and must be cash on pickup. No reasonable offer refused, I'll leave it advertised here for several weeks and at the end, contact the lucky bidder and you can come and get it. The website associated with the telescope is not part of the sale and won't be renewed after its registration elapses.

SWAP or TRADE
One last thing, if you don't have any money, you can swap or trade a modern smaller working telescope for this historic beauty, it's just too big for me to handle.
I'll also swap it for your old coin collection, a working digital camera, or any reasonable offer on just about anything, perhaps a sweing table, an old painting. My point is, I want someone to use it, because with me it is just gathering dust and blocking me from getting the lawn mower out of the garage where it's stored

Reason: To plead my case of why you should own this instead of me

Ron, I don't want to see this telescope lost after putting 2 years of blood and blisters into rebuilding it. I broke too many tools and knuckles. I will talk to my wife and come up with some sort of offer for it.

That would be terrific Baz, I'd love to see it go to you, I'll swap you for one of your working telescopes. I just never use it and it seems such a waste to have it sit in the garage getting dusty. Let me know via PM your new e-mail address and we can chat privately.

Thanks Barry, as discussed, it is probably better if someone else has this wonderful telescope, we both had some fantastic fun putting it together. Thanks buddy, you're the best

Perhaps one of the larger societies will take it?
Better chance of it being looked after and not forgotten.

What a fantastic idea Simon! Are there any astronomical or historical societies that would take this telescope off Ron's hands for what he's asking?

Yes thank you guys, I'm just trying to get my expenses back, certainly not trying to make a profit, that's why the 'price' is really low, in fact I wish I could just give it away but I figure I should get back a few dollars for what I spent, seeing that I'm a working bloke and not that well off.
Of course as stated, it doesn't have to be cash but something else that has some sort of value. I am actually speaking in PM style to several other people at the moment, so I'll make a decision soon on the best way to move the telescope to its new owner.
Thanks again for your constructive ideas.

I had to laugh when I read this... can only guess what the conversation was like
I could not find any details regarding the scope specifications? Is there a summary page somewhere?

Trust me it's not a laughing matter and the conversation never took place.

Thanks Baz
Okay, just as an update I have 4 people I am talking to via PM, all have interesting propositions and seem to be very nice genuine people. I'll talk to each person and think about it for a day or two and then make a decision.
Thank you very much for your interest to all those who have responded, I'll be in touch with replies at some stage today.

To aid in the sale:
If the new owner needs to know anything at all about the history and rebuild of this wonderful instrument from a bygone era, as the restorer, I am more than happy to provide full details and Photographs of every aspect of it's restoration.
I hope generations to come, realise the value of this magnificent piece of astronomy history.

Current update
Hi, thanks for that magnificent offer Barry, fantastic.
Okay, there are four people that I just replied to via PM and with each of them, I stated that I would make a decision within 48 hours. I'll use this time to consider everything these people have written me or sent to me.
Thank you for your patience.
