I use pure isopropyl to clean my eyepieces, but instead of Q-tips I use tightly rolled and twisted Kleenex white tissues that I snap in half leaving a soft, fuzzy end. Dip the snapped in half end in the isopropyl, clean the eyepiece then spin the tissue around and gently wipe the lens with the dry end - this absorbs the isopropyl and reduces the residue on the lens, except for a little around the edges, which doesn't matter.
I like the rolled and twisted tissue since you can't apply pressure to the optical surface even if you try - the tissue just bends.
