Newbie say's "Hello"

Hi all, I'm a Newbie here but have owned a few different telescopes over my time on earth, as a kid though to adult. My first telescope was a 12" long refractor and as a little kid I knew I could see Apollo 11 & the flag. Later in life I bought a 70mm Tasco refractor which served me well for 2 decades.

The last arrival about 2 years ago was a 203mm reflector bought on ebay, Wow! I had no idea what I'd been missing. Straight out of the box the stars were sharp pinpoints & the moon could be only about meter or two away. I could point it at a black part of the sky & see millions stars.

I'm lucky not to have light pollution out here & enjoy sitting in my deck chair watching the sky with my MP3 player tuned to "Dark side of the moon"
.

Hi Doug,

I assume you are in Horsham, Victoria and not Horsham, SA.

I'm in Horsham North and have a few street lights around my house but still get some dark skies sometimes. Other times I get light pollution from the town center.

Welcome to IceInSpace.
