Rho Ophiuchi - Unmodified 350D

G'day all,

I've been having a great time the last 5 nights in my observatory. I hadn't used it for months, and now have rediscovered it.

The new PC is running everything smoothly, the LX setup is plodding away through NGC's and the Losmandy is doing some fun stuff with wide field shots on the Megrez 90. Quite productive.

Here's a shot from the Megrez/Losmandy setup taken with the 350D:
http://www.rogergroom.com/items/rho_ophiuchi_nebula

I'm very pleased with it considering:
- unmodified 350D
- 3 minute subs
- haven't tweaked the setup for 3 months, just simply turned it on and started imaging.

The anoying bit is the edge distortion, appearing as rotation, caused by the WO v3 field flatenner over-correcting.

Roger.

Great start back into it, Roger. It looks like there's an internal reflection there too?

Nice work!

Ahh! I forgot about editing that out. It's a dust spot somewhere in the train - it's on all m shots from the last few days from that ascope, and I haven't had time to do a new flat.

Thanks Mike, it was a good start back to it Unfortunately, 2 seconds after posting the message last night, it might have ended... I will start another thread in equipment forum

Thanks Highly recommended. I had only ever done wide field photographs of the area before, don't know why. Just hadn't got around to thinking of doing any more of the area. Then I pretty much stumbled upon it, and wow, great target

Thanks Trevor, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do get if you pursue the object more with your telescope.

That is a great shot, being an unmoddified camera there is hope for me yet.

Love the smooth feel to it.

Roger,

A great image of a lovely area. At 22 x 3 minutes that is still a fair amount of data to play with and you have done very well.
