At last, first decent night of new Scorpius season

Got out tonight, got 2.5 hours of pretty good viewing before the white stuff rolled in.
Knocked over 10 NGC's all new to me and an IC, cruised the Leo Triplet, had a wander around the Virgo cloud, not properly finding target just cruising galaxies. Tried out my new 8mm Stratus (187x) on the Homonculus, easy to see both wings really clearly, very pleasing.
Got very nice view of M83, big and bright tonight. Then crusied around Scorpius a bit.
Detailed report will follow.

Great stuff Malcolm, glad you got out there and had some fun.

Regarding the stratus eps i was thinking of purchasing one as they are relatively low cost compared to tele vue eps,do you have any of the other mm eps.i was thinking of getting the 13mm for this christmas.
What are your thoughts on this?i think i might just save up for that 10'' dob that i want.

Clear skies

Great to hear, This is my first viewing constellation when I first started astro last year, will be happy to see it again. As long as the light pollution subsides.

Thanks guys.
Orestis. The Stratus I have is 8mm that gives me 187x. Bought it so I can do the odd bit of Planet Watching when the mood takes me. Also ma be useful for splitting doubles.
From the little bit I have used it it seems ok but haven't had really good conditions. I think I will need a steady sky to give it a real test.
Certainly the views are nowhere near my 13mm Nag, but I kind of expect that given poor seeing and much higher mag.

Soundls like an awesome night Malcolm. Slight (no, massive chunk) of envy here Got some clearness here tonight but transparency is very poor, lots of high cloud seen at sunset so I guess that's the culprit. Looking forward to your obs report!
