Small M104 taken with 200mm Newt, and QHY8. The original image itself was rather large with a tiny galaxy in the middle, well the scope is F5 afterall, so although its the dullest image posted here in weeks, i thought i would share because.
i haven't posted anything in ages
and i just got my mount back from being serviced, and i wanted to see what the guiding and movement was like, turned out quite nice as it happens.
oh! and the black on this is probably as black as the earl of hells waistcoat, as it was done on my guiding laptop
Nice one Duncan. Really like the shot and the guiding seems spot on. You are finally getting to grips with all your equipment and that's good to see.

Thanks guys, i know the image is naff, but its a test iamge somewhat, and yeah it does have a red cast to it, but my post processing skills suck, this is a stack of 8 * 5 min exposures, i find that 10 mins and i get trails, although my mount is working fine, and my polar alignment is very, very good.
still, it looks like i need a new focuser to get the best out of it, although i dont know how long i can hold of from buying a GSO 8" RC
Duncan buy a guide camera you'll need one for 10 minute subs
How are you finding the QHY8 ??
fella, i use the Orion SSAG. i have done subs up to 30 mins previously
yeah the QHY8 is .... decidely average! dont get me wrong, the dark noise on it is fantastically low, but i cant help thinking that while its a very good CCD, thats its downfall
Duncan, if you have nice stars at 5 minutes but start to trail after 10 minutes then this is a sure sign of flexure. If you had 30 minute subs before and round stars look for what has changed in the setup. It might be just the smallest thing to find flexure. Sometimes you can find it quickly. In the end I gave up trying to look for the problem after having 30 subs myself with perfectly round stars. I now use the OAG on the QSI and I am never going to change the setup until I get the next scope.
