Tempted to spray LB trusses black, thoughts?

I've just finished flocking the inside of my LB and I'm thinking of spraying the trusses in black. Has anyone done this and if so has it helped? Thanks guys.

I painted my truss poles black , cant really say if it makes a differance as the whole scopes black.. though it must reflect less light as I'm always walking into it in the dark .

If your poles are bare aluminium you'll need an etch primer on first .

Some manufacturers put black tube foam around their truss poles instead of painting them. My old obsession was done that way and I was quite happy with it.

Moh,
Painting won't last very long, it will chip easily.
The tubes are anodized, I would suggest that you have them anodized in black or powder coat them.
Both are very durable finishes.

Thanks all for the response, very informative. Quite a few options to choose from there, luckily I held back from getting out the black spray paint

You certainly don't want paint flaking off and dropping onto your primary mirror.

Apply an etch primer before any overcoats of black .

You can seal that off with some urethane if you want .. flakes and chips are .. imo .. not an issue .
