I think your being a little bit nit picky. Remember this is 40+ years into the future, so who knows what technical advances could come. Afterall, just look at the last 40 years of history and advances we've made in not just technology, but also our understanding of the universe and how things work.
And also, didn't Star Trek and just about every other Sci Fi deal with instant communication and gravity in their own way? Way can't you accept the way they've dealt with it? It's Science
Fiction correct?
As for the "haunting" and the crying baby she hears, this will all be explained later. It all has to do with "Beta". I won't go any further as it's too hard to explain without giving away too much of the plot.
At any rate, the future of the series is all up in the air since it's not getting the ratings ABC America hoped for. In all likelyhood, it doesn't look good for going on beyond Season 1.
I get what you mean about the flashbacks, very annoying, but it get's used less and less as the series go on. I think what they are trying to do is tell the story of the history of these people and give them background, while keeping the mission going. Otherwise you would have to devote even more episodes to them just being on Earth training and preparing which would be even more boring. Shows only have one Season (if that!) to prove themselves so the main storyline has to go somewhere.
Anyway I'm enjoying it. I'm up to Episode 10 out of a total of 13, then we'll just wait and see what happens. Either way, I'm looking forward to Episode 12 when they finally land on Venus.
