Dislodged G11 motor

Hi Guys, I was wondering I someone may be able to assist me.

In short I have the mount head on the G11 whack one of the motors and it has dislodged or broken away the plastic mounting plate that the motor attaches to.

In the four images you will see the plastic mount plate, Is it possible for me to undo the two silver screws visible that hold the motor to the head without making more trouble for my self.

It all still works fine, but when the motor is screwed in it floats in and out attached to the loose plastic mount plate.

I could probably fit a small screw directly through the plate, but I don't know what is behind it.

I was going to remove the whole assembly but thought I would just ask first.

Many Thanks.

Leon

We just went through this on Humayun's mount Leon. New gearbox internals required me thinks.

Hi Leon

Dont put a screw through that plate, it is the gearbox, looks like you have broken the plastic faceplate of the gearbox, the gearbox is a replaceable part.

Simply unscrew the other two screws in your photo, remove the cover plate and remove the two posts with a pair of pliers, dont lose the little plastic washers, replace the gearbox and re-asemble in the reverse order, easy.

Cheers

Hi Leon, undo the two silver screw with an allen key. That holds the cover and the gearbox plate to the base plate. Then unscrew half of the oldham coupler and remove the gearbox. A good wack probably ripped the thread in the pastic part of the gearbox. Don't necessarily have to change it. You could retap to a slightly larger diameter or lock it with loctite. Unless you removeyour motors in & out all the time. Otherwise get a new gearbox from Losmandy.

Leon,

$65 or so from Bintel.

I did mine recently. It was a simple procedure.

Chris, John and Doug diagnosed my mount down at Border Stargaze.

Regards,
Humayun
