Talking Over (Zulus) Zealous Australian Customs or Morons

I bought from USA a ceramic white rabbit for my wife's birthday, she collects them any way it took 6 weeks by first class post, it should have taken 3 to 6 days of cores it was late for her birthday, when we got it it said it was opened by customs on the outside on the inside it said it was passed by customs agriculture, what were they thinking it was a live rabbit, I now have a new hard drive in sealed box for my laptop coming and is overdue, what's the bet they are seeing what's on the hard drive, I am getting sick of it, I don't mined them looking at it its the time it takes to get through customs

Might have been a south african custom officer - they've always been a bit wary of zulus

Gee thats not good news Vars, most astro stuff I have ordered from the states have been cleared on the same day they arrived. Perhaps our lot over here are slackers .

A lot of people smuggle drugs and whatnot through international borders using vessels such as ceramics. An item like that is definitely going to attract attention from customs officers. You can't really blame them.

Earlier this year I had a large roll of a Snake Skin print vinyl express shipped from the US for an urgent job, then after 2 bloody weeks Sydney Customs rang and said I can't have the "Snake Skin" as it was illegal and I am introuble for importing it.
I said to the woman "it is ^&&@% VINYL "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go have a look !!!!!
Bloody hell

I've had 2 seperate items arrive from Germany within 2 weeks each time. So customs haven't been too bad.

I've just sent an item to Germany, just 30 minutes ago.

Let's hope custom is just as efficient in the other direction.

I've imported a few things from the US and the only time it ever got held up was because the dollar amount was over the limit so they waited for me to pay some customs tax. These days I make sure if I order something from the US I stay under the limit (which is $1000AU IIRC).

That seems strange, as I have a number of items posted from the States and they all arrived on the day with out exception when they said it would, and not tampered with at all.

And they only took 5 days from order date to my door step, now that is service.

I have never had a problems with any overseas shipments, maybe I have been lucky

Leon

The last thing I ordered from overseas was a 'yo-yo' from Australia. It took three months to arrive, because the idiot who sent it put it in an 'Only Within Australia' postal bag. Maybe he thought NZ is a part of Australia?

With each summer getting hotter, it'll be a bad year for vinyl snakes. Look out everyone!

David, that's amazing, but not surprising.

I purchased some shoe inserts from the from the states over 8 weeks ago now.
The last time I bought them they took about 6-7 weeks to get here.
They were opened by "Customs" as they were listed as medical items.
I presume the same has happened again.

Customs are due a phone call on Monday.
The service is just not good enough.
