2" Barlows with 1.25" EP

I assume from what I have read so far that there are no significant viewing differences with using either a 2" or 1.25" barlow with 1.25" EP.

At the moment I'm swinging towards a GS 2" barlow (achromatic) as I already own a 2"EP as well as my 1.25's.

I presume a cheaper achromatic style will suffice for my viewing purposes.

I'm looking at one from aquila optical (www.aoe.com.au)at the moment. Does anyone know of any better deals elsewere.

Better still if anyone wants to sell there's I'd be interested even if it was a 1.25".

I still think that an apochromatic barlow is the way to go. That way you only buy once and its good for ever. As for 2" v 1.25" I find I only barlow my 1.25" lenses, maybe becausse I only have an Orion Shorty Plus so its a bit hard to use on 2" lenses but my 2" lenses are for scanning large chunks of the universe not zooming in on the finer details.

If you are going to get a 2" then I would say get an apochromatic one from the start.

Cheers

Hi Mike,

I have two 1.25" barlows i am using at the moment for imaging. I will bring both along on Sunday and you can check them out. I will be definately keeping the 2.4x for a while, but you may be interested in the gs 2x
