Here are some shots taken early this morning. The first 2 show the Moon, Mars and Venus with the Pleiades and Hyades clusters. The view will be ever better tomorrow, with Mars-Aldebaran-Moon-Venus forming a square.
The last image is a close up of the crescent Moon and Pleiades taken using my 70-300mm telephoto lens. It's a combination of 2 different exposures merged in PS7, to bring out more star in the Pleiades. I've been wanting to try this for a while, and I'm fairly happy with the result given that I used a tripod-mounted dSLR.
It was only about 4.5 degrees this morning, but I'm glad I got out there!
Thanks for looking.
Thanks for the comments Eric, Jeanette and Adam. It's taken me a while to get back to this thread, with all the excitement about Bird's Jupiter impact.
