Moonage 30th June

I fixed my puter this evening, now finally I could download the moonage I took on the 30th June.
This is a composite of 2 images, merged together in CS3.
Smart sharpened in cs3.
Clarify filter in PaintShopPro8

Camera 20d
ISO 200
1/90th sec exposure
SWproED80
TV Big Barlow

Extra good Moonage there JJJ.

Very nice detail, but if I may say, might need a smidge more contrast to bring it even more to life.
seamless merge too....
Keep the images coming too, I never get tired of the Moon.
Well done.

A nice bit of moonage there JJJ. There's some interesting dark patches near the terminator in the lower half of image - wonder what's causing that?

I dunno Peter.
It's in the original .raw image too.
They were only single frames. If I'd taken the trouble to take more, and stack, the quality would be much higher.
I was mainly testing out the new Barlow on these.
Thanks for looking.

Geoff, you're most welcome to have a play with the image. I'd like to see what you come up with.

Hi Jeanette

A lovely mosaic – top job! You’ve done very well to avoid any blown out highlights as the brightness range is very difficult to manage on these moon photos, so well done.

Messier A & B have come up very well and gee, isn’t Mare Crisium a long way from the lunar limb – libration effects I think?

Cheers

Dennis

Sorry Jeannette - a few tweaks too. I think that your image is intrinsically very good - it's just a little dark, and needed a good dose of unsharp mask.

Noice! It means your data is good, you just need to spend a little more time in PS.

I love to play with other peoples images too, so don't hesitate to do the same with mine.

Here's my own repro.
I applied the "clarify" filter twice more, USM'd it then smoothed out the jpeg artefacts.
It's definitely NOT what you see through the scope, but it has bought out more definition of the lava plains and the impacts within them.
