Smilie Problems?

Has something happened to the smilies this afternoon? I just entered a post, but no emoticons will work and no carriage returns are displayed in my post. I'm using Firefox 3. I've rebooted my PC and started everything fresh and the problem's still there. This is now in 4 paragraphs, so we'll see if the carriage return problem persists... Al.

Hmmm. I assume the problem must be local to me, otherwise I'm sure others would have commented. The problem persists this morning, and I found the [+"] button doesn't work. Any clues? Al.

Not yet.

I've tried setting IIS basic to standard editor rather than enhanced.

I'll fire up IE and see, how it goes.

I seem to have some success with the change back to the standard editor.

I now have paragraphs.

Still no smilies, etc though.

Will do the IE experiment now.

I've given Chrome a quick try on the kid's computer and seems like a nice browser.
I'm going to install it on my main system and try it out a bit more.
From all the info I've read, it's the best one to use, quick too.

It all seems to work in IE with th enahnced interface on...

Now I'll try FF again (I've had problems with FF before that using IE has fixed), so I'll give it a whirl...

Al,

if it's any help, my Firefox did an automatic update a day ago.
Once before when it did that, replying to any IIS threads was all
buggered just like you described.
I think it was either the FF update messed up the Flasplayer addon
or vice versa.
Within a day or so another update came thru and it fixed itself.

I'll look into that. The only other thing I can think of was I installed registax 5 just before things started to play up...

Scanned for spyware... found the "Double Click" tracking cookie and got rid of that, and checked FF for updates... none available.

Problem is still there in FF, but I'll have a play with Chrome for a while at least.

Emoticons still working in Firefox for me. Firefox updated to 3.0.9 a couple of days ago, but no problems with my few posts on IIS There apparently was a problem with the Firefox 3.0.8 update, so maybe you should check that your version is at 3.0.9

Cheers

Yep. It's 3.0.9.

It's got to be something else messing it about...

Just for reference, my lappy has FF 3.0.8 and its working perfectly. Given others are using FF 3.0.9 without the problem, it must be something on my PC that's affecting it.

Moderators - you may want to move this thread.

Just updated FF to 3.0.10.

All appears to be fixed.
