starry night problem

hi all i have starry night pro and been getting use to the program over the last month and have just connected it to the telescope and there lies my problem ok whats happening is starry night loads and sets up no probs i can move the screen and do the normal stuff i then align my scope plug in the cord to computer i then configure the setup the computer recionizes the cable i then connect it doesnt give me a comm port error so it knows the port then it stops and the screen goes white and the programme then doesnt respond it doesnt connect everything stops i then reset the computer try it again everything is fine till i try and connect same prob im runnig vista with a meade rs232-usb cable the cable works ive been updating of it at star patch can anyone out there pleaSE HELP ME

Similar thing happened with my version 6. I had to update to 6.2.3

well ive downloaded the ascom platform 5.0 and meade autostar drivers on comm port 3 im getting a not knowing what meade scope and thats as far as ive gotten still the same prob freezing up any more advice
