And today they're forecasting snow.
What a country we live in. Extreme heat (reached 48C or 119F at home), bush-fires, cyclones and floods, and today, barely a month later - snow.
Is it climate change or is it Australia?

LOL! Geez we're a bunch of sheep in this day and age aren't we? A few swinging weather patterns does not climate change maketh. These have been happening for at least as long as I can remember - and on a planetary time scale that ain't much!
I'd say yes, we are going through climate change, and have always been and will always be. Are these particular weather patterns at the moment due to climate change? I guess so - It was nice last week and this week it's cold - there's climate change for ya!

By climate change, if you mean global warming the earths temp has actually dropped in the last 10 odd years, so no its just the joy of living in oz.

I'd much rather snow than 48C, you can put an extra jumper or two on but you can only take so many clothes off before it becomes, a) ugly and b) illegal .
Also if it is snowing it means the days are getting colder which can only mean the nights are getting longer and this artificial time we have forced on us in Summer is soon gone.

Drew and Lisa,
If the world's temperature has dropped, why are the polar ice-caps melting at such an alarming rate?

It seems that we'll have to get the truth about the whole matter from our nearest Greens representative.
LOL!!!
1) If there's a strange weather pattern happening - it just has to be "global warming" at fault.
2) The country is run by nincompoops but the economy's problems just have to be due to the GEC.
Hmmm.... very handy, no?

Drew and Lisa,
I beg to differ. Suggest you Google "Antarctic melting" and do some reading of some world-wide reports. You'll find plenty to support it and naturally a few who doubt. But the general consensus is that its true.

I agree 100%.

Again, I agree 100%.
Shame Mr Brumby and Mr Krudd want us to believe that we'll roast to death if we don't revert back to the caveman way of life.

Well put. Everything is blamed on "global warming" these days. If its hot (as it should be in summer), it's global warming, if its raining, its global warming, if its not raining, its global warming, if its cold, its global warming, if there is a cyclone up north, its global warming, if there is snow , its global warming, if there are fires on a 40C day, its global warming.
In reality, it's Just the Nincompoops in Canberra and on Spring Street eager to make a quick buck off already struggling families (better known as the carbon tax). Disgraceful.

Until recently, scientists debated whether Antarctica was warming.
But a January study in the journal Nature found that Antarctica's average annual temperature has increased by about 1 degree Fahrenheit since 1957, but is still 50 degrees below zero.
The report also determined that autumn temperatures in east Antarctica were cooling over the long term. International Polar Year researchers found that the southern ocean around Antarctica has warmed about 0.36 degrees Fahrenheit in the past decade, double the average warming of the rest of the Earth's oceans over the past 30 years.

Well the IPCC computer models all found that global warming should cause higher evaporation causing more cloud formation causing an increase of snow on both poles, as a result the poles should be increasing in size but they are not, they are melting. Like I said they are not melting at an "alarming rate" due to global warming, but that doesnt mean it doesnt exist, its just there are so many alarmists around cherry picking evidence to suit their agenda it really dammages any credibility to the cause. The bottom line is on a worldly scale (not just the poles) the earths temp has dropped in the last 10 years and nobody can understand why.

Where is your evidence saying the world has cooled over the last 10 years??
There probably is a lot of info out on climate change so be careful where you get your info. A lot of special interest groups ie. coal & oil, commission reports.
To the comment about wanting us back in the stone ages. Hope this is a joke. It is 100% possible to retain living standards and reduce emissions by 50-60%.
Also it is true the earth has been warming for about 20000 years i believe. But only by about 1C every 1000 years. That rate is now at 1-3C per hundred years.
