Argo Navis Question on “User selectable Atlas Reference”

Just wanted to know what the feature “User selectable Atlas Reference” was about.

I hear a firmware update is needed to include a wider range of Atlas’s. I have recently just purchased volumes 1 & 2 of the Uranometria 2000.0 Second Edition...Is this series included?

If the $900.00 incentive money comes through, I’ll bite the bullet and jump on the Argo Navis wagon then.

Thanks for the post.

Argo Navis not only can assist you in locating, identifying and touring objects,
it also can report to you detailed information about the object.

Furthermore, it can also identify what constellation region the scope is
currently pointing to as well as tell you what page on your favorite
star atlas corresponds to the region of the sky the scope is
currently pointing.

To select your atlas of choice there is a menu called SETUP ATLAS.
The atlases supported are -
  • Herald-Bobroff ASTROATLAS
  • Milennium Star Atlas
  • Star Atlas 2000
  • Uranometria 2000 Edition 1
  • Uranometria 2000 Edition 2

Therefore, in your instance, you would select Uranometria 2000 Edition 2.

This feature is standard in the current firmware release and when purchasing
a new unit, there is no requirement to upgrade the firmware to bring about this
functionality. It is already there.

You can read more about the SETUP ATLAS feature on pp 88-89
of the Argo Navis User's Manual which can be downloaded from here -

Thanks also for the support which is appreciated.
Argo Navis is designed and manufactured here in Sydney, Australia.
The turn-key manufacturing facility we utilize is a world-class facility based
in the western suburbs of Sydney and employs a considerable number of
workers, many of whom are women.
