2012

Went to the movies today and saw a trailer for a film called 2012.
Effects look great.
Not sure what the story line is though other than the destruction of the world.
Back at school many, many years ago I remember discussing either the Aztecs Incas or Mayans or a similar South American civilisation had predicted the end of the world in 2012.
Might be loosley associated.

23rd December, 2012.

The only way a wall of water like that could occur is if the entire Pacific or Indian Ocean basins were evacuated of their water, and only two possible mechanisms for its cause.... 1. The planet's rotation was suddenly changed, and/or, 2. A sudden shift of the crust of the planet over the asthenosphere/mantle.

Looks like a good movie, though

Surf's up!!!!

I can help out with the water...

Yes 2012...a big year for many... end of the world, planet x shows itself and Michael Jackson does a world tour.

Nothing like a movie about destruction to take folks minds off their misery and give them something to look forward to...

At least it is not a BAtman or Superman movie remake...

Yes.... what is the date in 2012? I will come into town that day to see how folk take the end of the world.

I'm buying me a surfboard. I reckon if I managed to ride the pipe on one of those waves, I'd be famous!!!

Makes Jaws and The Pipeline look like a pond ripple!!!

Many years ago some fools thought JC was coming set up seats at Balmoral...I thought that was crazy but when you think about it what could you charge for a front row seat to the end of the world ...with a free T shirt of course.

AS to the fame thing they say everyone gets to be famous for at least 15 minutes in their life...can you ride for that long????

I have said this before but its funny how you can tell folk of a big event..big rock hitting the bigger rock.. and they want to believe it... mention planet x and many folk will say they saw it a couple of nights earlier... I dont tell tehm they saw Venus or Jupiter.

Actually, it's not (a Nibiru thread), however, the first premise....you hit the nail right on the head. I just gave two possible causal events.

Just thinking Alex, I wouldn't worry too much about the survival gear. If a wave can go over the Himalayas I suspect there wont be too much of Oz left.

I have to have an early Christmas that year as well.

Cheers

Ian & Nightstalker, I suspect you both have 50 copies of "Catcher in the Rye" and leave bottles balanced on door handles- only joking

It is not a conspiracy, it is a simple thread was about a trailer I saw when I went to see that awful remake "The Day the Earth Stood Still".
Even though the trailer went for about a minute,it was the best minute of viewing I had whilst I was in the cinema.

Is also probably the best minute of the film when it is released.

As for how much water it would take to cover the Himalayas - who cares, - it is just a fictional film - enjoy it for what it is.

Sorry to break the news, but Michael Jackson won't be touring in 2012, he died late '07.

What?
Oh!, Michael 'Wacko' Jackson!
Thought you meant THE Michael Jackson(original), of Beer Hunter and Discovery Channel fame.

Ill watch that 2012 movie when it comes out. I couldn't care less about the logistics of displacing a certain abount of water from the ocean. I only care about how cool it will look on the big screen to see the Himalayas get smashed by a wall of water. Movies like that are for entertainment only - well proberly cashing in on the doomsayer crowd as well.

But if it looked good on youtube, its gotta look great at the cinema so Ill give it a shot. Id just waste the $15 on smokes anyway.
Hmmm...killing myself with smokes or watching the earth get creamed on the bigscreen?
