New Doctor Who to be revealed this weekend!
To all the Whovians here, the identity of the actor who will replace David Tenant in 2010 is to be revealed on tv this weekend, specifically in the UK at 1735 on the 3rd, UTC that is of course:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7807742.stm
There have have been rumours flying everywhere as to who might take on the role, some predicting we could have the first black Doctor, or the first "official" female Doctor, as those who have seen "The Curse of Fatal Death" will understand, in that one-off Red Nose Day fundraiser video there were a number of famous faces all playing the Doctor in successive, and short lived, regenerations, including Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Grant and Joanna Lumley!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_...of_Fatal_Death
Anyway the identity of the new Doctor should be flying around the net here in Oz early Sunday morning. Stay tuned!

To see Rowan Atkinson, etc, play the Doctor try You Tube, there's plenty of videos from The Curse of Fatal Death. Try this one:

I'd like to see Billy Connely for the next doctor, he's as quirky as hell and the man is a fine actor when he puts his mind to it...

Not Billy .... it's http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/media...c/morrisey.jpg, David Morrisey.
Apparently in the 2008 Xmas special he played a second Doctor who teamed up with the Doctor to prevent the rize of the Cybermen during mid 19th C.
I could be wrong.

David Morisey maybe the next doctor but this is not what is implied in this episode. But they have titled the Xmas special to trick people into thinking this.
However Like Romana1 Mary Tamm regenerated on a whim to Romana2 Laila Ward. The reason given was she liked the look of the charecter Laila Ward had played ( i think a princes) in a previous episode.
Perhaps the David Tenant Doctor Who character may do the same in the future and chose to look like David Morissey as his regeneration.

THE ANNOUNCEMENT HAS BEEN MADE, THIS POST APPEARED ON THE BBC WEBSITE LESS THAN 3 MINUTES AGO:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7808697.stm
I don't know this new doctor at all, but they seem sure he's the right guy apparently so good luck to him.

Hmmm.
I'll reserve judgement on this guy...but he looks.....well, a bit too young.
I suppose he'll prove popular with the Gen Y crowd... but I can't help but wonder whether they've lost sight of their 'core' audience with this decision?
Time will tell. I'm happy to give him the benefit of the doubt and see how things go.

Ill be a grump and be negative
Ive never been a huge fan of the Russell T Davies Dr Who series - For me the 70's Dr who's (Pertwee, and esp Tom Baker) are the best.
I guess the stories and writing will be paramount, but I hope there is a change in the overall style of the show - perhaps a bit less frantic and stylistic. Now that Davies is gone, that might happen...
I also hope the next side kick is not just a love interest. (although it would be hard to imagine a more unappealing side kick than Catherine Tate )

Yes I saw a few things he did before Dr Who - and he was in a Harry Potter film :-)
