m42

It's my first attempt at manual guiding.
I used my Sigma 70-300 lens on the Canon 20d, piggy backed on the 5" refractor. The Gstar was used to guide through the refractor, using Startarg.
1x 5min 14sec
1x 30sec
Photoshop was used to stack and enhance.

On closer look though, the guiding isn't all that hot. Oh well, practice practice practice.

One night when I'm not shooting through sucker holes, I'm going to take my time and nail this baby.

Not so much cramp as double vision and eye strain.

Two important lessons I've learned using the Gstar for guiding.
1. Don't guide on hot pixels.
2. High integration may give you lots of stars to choose from, but the 2 second delay between what you see and what you get, leads to one very dodgy final image.
