Video clips of a mate's Centurion Tank

Just got these from a mate of mine. These were shot probably 12 months or so ago on his farm for a video clip for a song.

The video clip is here:

and the outtakes (I guess) are here...

He collects and restores them. He has 1 Centurion, 1 working Matilda and about 5 or 6 not working and 3 working Bren Gun Carriers (not sure how many spares of those).

Loads of fun if you can afford the fuel (the Cent uses 3 gallons per mile on road and 5 gallons per mile off road... that' what you get from a 27 litre Rolls Royce Meteor engine...)

That nothing, while they were still in service at 1st Armored Regiment they would drive the things down Mount Puckapunyal in angle gear. And just prior to being repalced by the Leopard Tank a couple of Sergeants thourght it would be fun to shot each other up with coax machine guns. Those Tanks are still on dispaly at Armored Centre, Pucka.

We had a neighbour when I was a kid , who rescued a jap tank from the jungle somewhere, renovated it and made it go , was a ton of fun riding in it when he took it over Toole Street Bridge to Kooragang Island and hooning about the marshes and slag dumps and mangroves in it. It was virtually unstoppable.

Bear in mind I was only 9 or 10 at the time and playing soldiers was cool.

I wonder what happened to it ? I have vague memory that a big Newcastle Herald writeup was done about him and his jap tank.

One of my happy memories of my time in the Territorial Army in the UK was a ride in a Centurion, was great. Wish I'd had a go at driving one, that would have been something else
