I have done a very rough job of framing the picture but I just could NOT wait! I am very excited about this one!!!
The image is to scale! No post processing done, rather than stitching together two images! North is 55deg CCW as is the correct orientation of the image!
Taken with my Pentax 75SDHF, Canon 40D!
The original image is over 4000 wide and it VERY sharp! The full crop shows Jupiter's disk and the four satellites!
Cropped version (only 2000 pixel wide) can be found at: http://www.backyardskies.com/Backyar...onJupiter.html

Reason: updated image
great shot, - very crisp.. the pentax looks like it has great optics. what is the fov with the camera on, looks about 3-4deg. clouded out here unfortunately
Let me check that: I am on a Mac and I miss CCD Calculator!
As I said in the original post, it is a composite of two images: I was only getting half moon with jupiter in the field so I had to stitch the images on the moon and voila!
I was working on the Raws again since, as I said in my original post up there, I have put the panorama together in just a few minutes!
I now have some VERY slight banding ( is it my eyes or there is really??) on Jupiter!! And of course some color as well! I've played around with curves on it to try an bring out some color.
The panorama is 5000 pixels wide at this point.
Here's a FULL crop of Jupiter an Europa, Io, Ganymede and Callisto!
Gday emanuel. Forgive me man, im really new to all this - but did you catch that image with ONLY a camera!! If that's the case you have blown me away - i'd never have thought that sort of detail was possible. Well done, im bud!
