Join the Great Worldwide Star Count!

From 20 October to 3 November the Great Worldwide star count will be in full swing. The aim of the project is to get people looking at the stars and to catalog the effect that light pollution has.

Visit the site

It's easy to participate. You just download the activity guide, go outside and count the number of stars visible in the "Teapot" in Sagittarius. You don't have to count all the stars. The activity guide indicates which stars to look at for each magnitude. Then you just report your findings on the site.

Hope you guys will participate... I'm struggling to get fellow South Africans interested!

I almost forgot. It's a great way to easily determine the limiting magnitude of your observation spot, so a great tool for us amateur astronomers.
