NGC253 luminosity mosaic

Hi all,

Here is a shot I got last night of 253.
It is a 2 frame mosaic with each frame made of
about 31 in the stack.
The DSI Pro mono and GSO 12 make a nice image
scale and tracking coped easily with 8sec exposures
even for something so far from the poles.

Next thing to add is the RGB!

regards,
Steve B.

Great shot at least I know I'm on the right target I tried for this last night as well attached is my effort, several frames stacked in DSS total about 3 minutes exposure, probably needs a lot more to get a decent image. These were taken through my 120 f/5 achromat ISO800 then stacked in DSS adjusted in PS for levels BC.

Thanks Trevor and Mike,

After spending the previous 3 hours getting RGB data for my
Tarantula LRGB, I thought I would swing the 12" over and have
my first look at it, ever ,through the GSO Newt.
I was sweeping the field for about ten minutes, just about to give up
and thinking, man the 8" never gave me this much grief, 253 should be
like a beacon...then I swept across it!

Speechless...how can a galaxy be soooo bright in a scope!
I have to get some luminance of that while I am in the mood.

On preview in Autostar Suite, the lanes popped out with only
a click on 'auto contrast'.
As I have commented to others recently, this is so easy compared
to literally the last 8 years spent squeezing every last bit of data out of
modified webcams.

regards,
Steve B.

Well done Steve. One big galaxy. The 12" gets a good deal of light from this target. Look forward to seeing the Colour composite.

What is the black rectangle in the top left corner?

It's the black edge of the original canvas that I merged the
two frames on....see here full size.

Very hard to stop the edges showing in a mosaic, I know there is
a feather feature in something, maybe Iris, i just can't remember.

Steve B.
