Just guessing here, but red on black should be okay as the red writing will be transmitted efficiently by the red filter, leaving a high contrast against the black background. I suspect there will be problems with red writing on a white background, as the red writing will probably "appear" to be white....on white...not so good.

Cheers

Hey Paul

I learned the hard way; my Rukl Lunar Atlas has red text and red grid lines on white paper - not the best combination for reading by the light of a red torch!

Cheers

$40 made to order here in melb houghy.

starry night looks perfect with the filter on.. which is the main thing. I'll have to wait for a clear night to test it out properly.. that doesn't look like it's gonna happen any time soon.

Hi guys I boughti sheet of 211 0.9ND filter sheet 1.22m x .51m for $17.60 (inc GST)from Mediavision Australia here in Melbourne. It's not red it's a brown/grey colour. I cut it to size and taped it around my laptop and it works great. It works well and you don't lose your ninight vision when looking at the screen. The guys at the ASV have been using it for a while and they put me on to it.

Regards Cristian

ELLEX, have you thought of a 'Plastic welder' type guy? You know, the ones that repair car bumber bars. If it's large enough why not simply get tabs bent/shaped on 2 sides & the top & slide it over the screen? L.

Here's a how-to article by Dennis that has been on the site for a while, but during the upgrade last month the images got corrupted. I've re-uploaded the images and attached them to the article.

http://www.iceinspace.com.au/index.p...63,213,0,0,1,0

It's about ND filters for Night Vision.
