A compiled image of the Trifid Nebula taken from my backyard Observatory in Mt Beauty during a gap in the clouds.
Sorry to post another image of trifid but I had to grab the chance while the clouds parted.
The image is a compilation of 10 X 5 minute images + 5 X 10 min images with flats. No darks were taken or used.
Telescope: Takahashi FS 102
Camera: QHY8
Guided with Skywatcher ED80 and QHY5 with PHD.
Images were processed using Images Plus and finished off with Photoshop.
The image has been cropped to fill the Picture.
Not bad at all Doug!
Focus seems to go soft on the left side? maybe something is out of square slightly and needs checking? (being picky here) hope you don`t mind
But where its sharp its real sharp!
cheers Gary
Thanks everyone it is gret to make one work even if a lot of the credit goes to luck.
Clive, Probably about a 100 to 120% crop on this image. Ireally don't know how to quantify a crop.
As for reducers ect. I have just had my Tak reducer delivered this week and look forward to imaging some of the larger nebulas which were just a bit big for the normal field of view. Otherwise the FL is probably about 75 mm longer than the standard Tak due to extension tubes to allow focus with the camera.
Now sell your home and get some better equipment so there will be more possibilities of taking down Martin next year in the DM's, he will have a beautiful mega chip FLI 16803 CCD with an FLI CFW-5-7 filter wheel & 50mm square filter set paired with a Tak FSQ 106 riding piggyback on his automated RCOS + PME Given Martins propensity for perfection and mosaics, with this gear in his hands the battle will be for second place I am affraid.........
We just need to keep imaging for our own satisfaction

I have it all worked out. I am going to image a UFO at twighlight just as it takes out Sydney Harbour Bridge. Should be a winner.
Really nice triffid doug beautiful colours and nice and sharp,so even the qhy8 is a bit much for the fs102?I am just wondering what size camera is suited to this scope?
cheers rob
