any easy way to work out degree of viewing. ie with 1250 fl and 25mm ep, what is the way to calculate degree of viewing?
|
Davo, the FOV in degrees can be worked out by dividing the E/Pc apparent fov by the mag. eg; a 25mm E/Pc with a 40??? deg app.fov in your t'scope @ 1250 mm,> 1250 div by 25 = 50 x. The apparent FOV then is 40??? div by 50 = .8 deg. # of Arc minutes > 60 X E/Pc deg, eg; 60 x .8 = 48 A/M. So if you have an object which is 45 x 20 A/M, you can select the correct wide field/low power E/Pc to find/view it ALL & then up your E/P to a higher power to pick out more detail.......... HTH.

ps. Don't know what the app fov is for your E/Pcs. Could be 50 degs. Anyone know?? L.
