NGC 2997 spiral galaxy

Hi Folks,
Had fun the other night as was lovely and clear till after midnight
I just picked this out of a NGC catalog off the internet and being up rather high I thought it would make a good thou small target to try.
I have read that this galaxy has spawned a few supernovae over the years.
I`m quiet pleased how well this little galaxy has come out
Image is 14 x 7min at iso 800 with the newt and 300D
Seeing was a little better than the night before but the sky was a little more hazy. Was a very cool night which really helped with keeping the noise nice and managable!
This is just a small crop of the original image.
Cheers and hope for some more CS tonight
Gary

This was well worth doing Gary. You've captures the outer wisp of spiral arms very well. Nicely done.

The green stars distract from what is a pleasing result. Sure you'll be able to correct that. Would you happen to be using a filter ?

Lovely looking galaxy Gary, the spiral arms and their extensions look really superb.

I did notice the green spot as well, could be some new type of supernova

Cheers

Thanks everyone for the comments and being upfront!
I didn`t really notice the greenish color to some of the stars..
Adjusted the color balance and I think its a bit better now..
I should go easy on the color balance tool in PS..
I always tend to over do it these days..
Any better?
cheers Gary

I don`t use any filters at all and I am lucky not to have much light pollution

At the risk of sounding too critical, about 40% of the stars are still green (not as green as before)! I really am being constructive here! I'm yet to capture a galaxy shot, so don't know how hard they are to process (yet!).

Did you use some kind of light pollution filter or something else that has upset the colour balance? The galaxy looks great, but something has really gone wrong somewhere in the stars. There are no green stars!

I've jumped on this bandwagon before, and it might be worth having a look at, but is your monitor reasonably well colour balanced/calibrated? They might look okay on your screen while you're processing them, but they are quite wrong in the final image.

never mind maybee its my monitor ?

either way good to see you are giving each image plenty of exposures to make a smoother image

cheers Alchemy

Nice image Gary.
Plenty of detail in the arms.
"These stars aren't green", I thought the image was about the galaxy, which is very nice.
Well done.

Nice pic Gary. Sounds like the target was very small and faint. Plenty of details in the spiral arms there. Well done.
