This 40D better pay for its keep sharpish as that is one fine image from the Pentax - you guys extracted far more detail/colour from that camera than I ever did...Well done!

This is a nicer one than a previous effort a little while back (not that it wasnt ok),

i have taken a closer look at this one (i didnt look at the glob close enough the other day), if you pop it into photoshop and run the eyedropper tool accross the image you will find the red channel higher than the others fairly consistently accross the higher tones in the image, a slight drop in the top of the curve in the red channel could help this,(easily fixed)

the bottom end sky background is high at the blue end so a similar correction could be applied there.

apart from that its really good i know the pentax is not of the same calibre as the new camera is ( it would be good to redo this with the new camera to see the difference).

Thanks Doug. We will just have to wait and see how we go with the Canon

Thanks for the advice Alchemy. I will look into the colour balance of the image when I get a chance.

Wow thanks for the comments guys. We thought this thread was dead

We would just like to say we appreciate all the encouragement and advice given to us on this forum, it's enabled us to improve our deep sky imaging which we started 10 months ago.

Just hope we can do justice with the 40D now.

( Bye the way Houghy our camera is retiring to a friend of ours in SA Terrestial only ) what a shame

Here's our first afocal image posted in April last year
