Start a couple of ATM'ing projects, it's a great way to fill in time on cloudy
days and nights.

yeah go ahead and do that - then the clouds go and with fine clear skies you will take up Astronomy again - then it will rain. Its a vicious cycle!! BTW nice "river", top shot!

yeh you guys up north have had it horrible lately.

We had 4-5 days of clearish skies in the last week, but the seeing has been terrible and the moon has been too bright!

same crap here. Nothing but clouds. Been overcast for about a week now, not to mention freezing cold. But thats a typical melbourne "summer" for ya.

Phil - atleast its warm where you are

Had a short stint last night but under that characteristic horrible seeing. You know something must be amiss when the moon is a blurry mess at 250x...then ofcourse half an hour after I began it clouded over.

Here on the south side of Rocky we got 180mm or 6" of rain over 2 hours. The river is in flood for second time in 3 weeks. Just getting all that water that fell at the back of Mackay. Before the storm last night the river was at 7.65m and steady. The storm pushed it up to 8.1m for a few hours. I live just off the top of a hill and the our street runs down the hill. I got up in the middle of the storm and went outside to have a look. There would have been 25mm or 1" of water from gutter to gutter running down our street. It made going to work on the motorbike at 5am this morning interesting with all the flooding. But like you Phil I haven't done any obsevering since Xmas when I was up at Stanage Bay.

You have my complete sympathy.
Our only hope is that it will be a dry winter.

Mate! I feel for you blokes in Rocky. Nothing worse than to see the flooded homes and the locals having to chuck out all their possessions on to the street and the wait for the insurance assessors procrastinating while you have to suffer. Approximately 4,000 homes copped it in Mackay.
